These actroids are actually available for sale in Japan now, selling at S255,000, advertised as have you own plastic pal thats fun to be with. Quoted from the Japanese website, your actroid will be elegant, feminine, and lively at all times.
David Levy wrote a book in 2007, titled Love and sex with robots, talking about the evolution of human-robots relationship, sex with robots becoming a reality in five years time, and marriage with robots becoming a reality in 2050. A South Korean professor, Kim Jong-Hwan, has developed a series of artificial chromosomes that will allow the robots to feel lusty, and could eventually lead to them reproducing.
With all these present technology in mind, who knows what will happen in the future?
